From Computers to Comics
I first took an interest in computers because they promised to make design and writing easier. Which led to a career in computer systems. I enjoyed both making systems work better for people, and coaching people to use them better. But I missed writing, drawing, creating.
I also had been stuck in the purgatory of unfinished stories. Finally, later in life, I found ways to follow tales to their end. But, after four story drafts each over 16,000 words, one (I thought) story completed, and two rejection letters, I realize that now I need to learn how to build a good story.
For the moment I have sidelined writing in favor of cartooning. Yet, I find the same challenge even when drawing: if I’m telling a story, I need to make it captivating. Follow the content I publish here on UnionCurve to decide if I am reaching that goal.
